Bio

Lena departed from this life Oct. 21, 2013, in Pagosa Springs, Colo., at the age of 104 years and 11 months. She was born in the country near Carmen on Nov. 15, 1908. At the age of 7, she accompanied her family walking and riding in a covered wagon from Oklahoma to Gladstone, N.M., – a trip undertaken in the hopes that the change of climate would be beneficial for her fraternal grandmother's health. A little over a year later they returned to Liberal, Kan., and then eventually settled on a farm near Drumright, where she and her eight brothers and sisters were raised. She married James Rodney Hall on Dec. 12, 1929, and moved to 2615 N. Bell Street in Shawnee in 1940 and remained there until March 1997. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; all of her brothers and sisters; her daughter: Geraldine; and two sons: James Wayne Hall (lost in action in Vietnam) and Jack Darrel Hall. She is survived by one son: Joel Thomas Hall; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat- grandchildren.
