Bio
Valda Thomas went to meet the Savior she loved on May 13, 2004, in Lubbock. Services will be conducted by Rev. Ken Swearingen at 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, at Trinity Evangelical Methodist Church in Slaton. Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service. Valda was born July 6, 1929, to Tinie and Fae Sheppard in Lubbock County. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1947 where she lettered four years in basketball and later attended Draughon's Business College in Lubbock. She married Weldon Thomas on May 14, 1950, in Lubbock. Valda was a faithful helpmate in the ministry for 45 years, serving in Texas, Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. They moved back to Lubbock County in 1988. Valda is survived by her husband, a number of cousins and a host of friends.
