WW II Veteran - Combat Engineers - US Army 1942-1945. Was never married. ----------------- Grand Island Independent - Sat. 28 Jun 2003 Bernard L. Wrubel, 81, of Grand Island died Friday, June 27, 2003, at the Grand Island Veterans Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Auditorium of the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Walter Phelan will officiate. Burial will follow at the Burkett Cemetery on the grounds of the Nebraska Veterans Home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the Veterans Home. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wrubel was born Dec. 27, 1921, at Fullerton to Clyde and Vernice (Boro) Wrubel. Survivors of the immediate family include four sisters, Lorraine Slizoski of Fullerton, Frances Zywiec of Columbus, Virginia Tietsort of Omaha and Helen Toczek of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and one brother, Edward Wrubel of Reno, Nev
