Bryan-College Station Eagle; Thursday, August 16, 2001; p. 9 (Bryan, Texas) ROGANVILLE, Texas- A tribute service for J. L. Johnson, 78, of Roganville is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper. Mr. Johnson died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. He was a native of the Hill Country, and a former resident of Bryan and Enid, Okla. He lived in Jasper for the past two years. He was the top national producer for Mutual of Omaha Insurance and a justice of the peace in Bryan. Survivors include his wife, Jean Johnson of Roganville; three daughters, Sue Lingwall of Waco, Cindy Smith of Georgetown, Texas, and Sammye Collier of Waco; three brothers, the Rev. Donald E. Johnson of Fort Worth, B. A. Johnson of Lake Dallas, Texas, and Benny Johnson of Cleburne, Texas; two sisters, Ethel Bunch of Cleburne and Eddie Burgess of Irving; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
