Mary Belle Taplin Naron, 84, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012, in Scott and White Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2012, in Brenham Church of Christ, with Mr. Doug Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. NOTE : The year of death was inscribed incorrectly on the gravestone as 2011 instead of 2012. Mary was born in Agua Dulce, Texas, to the late John and Mary Louise Ragel Taplin. She was baptized in June of 1944 in the Aqua Dulce Church of Christ. She graduated from Agua Dulce High School and attended A&I University in Kingsville. On July 20, 1951, she married Marshall Ernest Naron in Agua Dulce. Mary and Ernie lived in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, as well as two assignments in The Hague, Netherlands, where he supervised Drilling and Production Operations for the Pennzoil International Co. After working in the oil industry for 36 years, Ernie retired from Pennzoil, and he and Mary purchased a 98-acre farm and ranch near Brenham. Here, they raised cattle and pecans and enjoyed retirement. Mary and Ernie moved 25 times during his working years, but were always active in the Church of Christ wherever they lived. A member of the Brenham Church of Christ, Mary was active in providing food and clothing for those in need. She also enjoyed working with her hands, making and painting jewelry, knitting, and sewing clothing. She also provided many wonderful meals for her family. Preceding her in death were her brothers, Edwin, Louis, and Alfred Taplin; and a sister, Emma Kret Munsch. Survivors include her husband, Ernie Naron, of Brenham; daughter, Nancy Anne Hetman and her husband, Mark, of Somerville; son, Lynn Edward Naron, of Brenham; sister, Lena Mayfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
