Bio

Born Hale Twp., Warren Co, Illinois, the son of James and Theresa (Daggett) Allen. Married Isabel(Isabelle)(Belle) Currie (1867_1945) who was born in Woburn, Massachussetts and died in Casper, Wyoming. They lived in Scotia, Greeley Co., NE before moving to Bridgeport, NE to farm, breed and raise horses, most Percheron's.. He had other relatives living there and Bayard and Broadwater. He died of stomach cancer. Was noted as a 'horseman'. Tradition has it that he was part of the Pony Express in 1859-60 but it had to have been his father James as Charley was a baby and this would have been impossible. James could have also been a 'horseman' and taught these things to his son which makes more sense. When Charles died his son CC (Clifford) Allen took the train to Bridgeport to make the funeral arrangements. He took his daughter Rosella Elizabeth Allen (Wilson) with him. That left his wife Jennie and son James to take care of the farm for a week.
