NEW BOSTON, TEXAS- Melba Jewel Hammonds Edwards, age 82 of Texarkana, Texas passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 in a local nursing facility. Mrs. Edwards was born February 6, 1928 in Friendship, Texas. She was a homemaker, a very active church member and is preceded in death by her husbands, Curtis Hammonds and Jim Edwards Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Roger and Joan Hammonds of League City, Texas, Ronnie and Brenda Hammonds of Beaumont, Texas, two daughters and sons in law, Rhonda and Dee Minter of Texarkana, Texas, Donna and David Betts of Naples, Texas, 7 brothers in law, 9 sisters in law, 9 grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and a number of other relatives. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 1, 2010 in Old Union Cemetery, Simms, Texas with Roger Hammonds and Ronnie Hammonds officiating. Interment will be in Old Union Cemetery, Simms, Texas under the direction of Bates-Rolf. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the funeral home.
