Thomas Zulkoski HASTINGS - Thomas M. Zulkoski, 78, of Hastings, formerly of Wood River, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, in Hastings. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Joseph Joseph will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Zulkoski was born Sept. 1, 1933, on a farm near Elyria to Joseph and Clara (Siemek) Zulkoski. He grew up in Elyria, Ord and Loup City, attending school there. He entered the U.S. Army in 1955 and was discharged in 1956. He was united in marriage to Mary Pfannenstiel on Aug. 19, 1957, in Loup City. The couple lived in Loup City and Wood River, and in Hastings for the last 11 years. He worked at Case New Holland in Grand Island until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed gardening, bartering and wood working, but most of all being with his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Zulkoski of Hastings; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Roxann Zulkoski of Doniphan, Martin and Barb Zulkoski of Grand Island and Joseph Zulkoski of Grand Island; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra and Brett Henning of Lincoln, Margie and John Kemmerer of Alda and Cathy Zulkoski of Hastings; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Loreen Czaplewski of Grand Island.
