Bio

Elwanda "Cookie" Balazs of Eugene died May 6 of emphysema. She was 78. Cookie was born July 24, 1925, in Birthright, Texas, to W.D. and Lizzie Couch Coker. She married Frank Balazs in 1944. He died in 1973. She lived in Elwood, Pa., and Sulphur Springs, Texas, before settling in this area in 1999. She owned and operated an antique store and a ladies dress shop. Her interests included antiques and she enjoyed cooking and gardening. Survivors include a son, Frank Jr., of Eugene; and one grandchild. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene was in charge of arrangements.
