Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise (Oklahoma) Tuesday, June 8, 2004 Donald Solomon Donald Solomon, 87, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 1st at a nursing home in Valley Mills. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 3rd at the First Baptist Church in Valley Mills, Texas with Rev. John Wheatley and Rev. Greg Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Smith Bend-Cook Creek Cemetery under the direction of the Foss Funeral Home in Valley Mills, Texas. Mr. Solomon was born on March 9, 1917 in Independence Kansas. He was the son of John F. and Emma (Johnson) Solomon. He went to school in Bartlesville, Okla. and he worked for Phillips Petroleum. Mr. Solomon moved to Orange, Texas where he worked as a chemist for Alpha Portland Cement Company. After retiring in 1979, he moved to Laguna Park and then Valley Mills. Don was married to Lillie Brittain and she preceded him in death in 1996. He later married Gladys Weir in 1997 and she preceded him in death in 2002. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Mr. Solomon was a member of the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Survivors include his adopted son and daughter, Darel and Doris Graves of Valley Mills, sisters, Edna Harbison of Bartlesville, and Louise May Bell of Idaho, brothers, Melvin Solomon of Waco, Texas, Archie Solomon of Garland, Texas, and George Solomon of Dewey, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Bosque Valley Food Pantry, P.O. Box 231, Valley Mills, Texas, 76689.
