Funeral services for John David Smith, age 78 of Combine, Texas were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Forney with his son, David Smith and his grandson Chase Smith officiating. Interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Seagoville under the direction of Roselawn Funeral Home of Seagoville. John David Smith was born on May 21, 1933 in Warsaw, Texas a son of the late Charlie H. and Inez Wright Smith and passed from this life to be with the Lord on April 17, 2012 in Dallas, Texas. A lifelong farmer, a career he began in high school farming with his father, he and his loving wife Patsy farmed and lived in the Combine area for most of their married life. They enjoyed traveling in their Airstream and were often accompanied by many friends and making trips to many different places. He was Baptist in faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Forney. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Patsy Smith of Combine, son, David Michael Smith and his wife Kathi of Grand Saline; daughter, Melanie Peacock of Waco; grandsons, Timothy Peacock of Waco, Colbey Smith of Crandall and Chase Smith and his wife Courtney of Forney; granddaughter Chelbi Smith of Grand Saline; brothers, Charles Smith and his wife Charlene of Mesquite and Carl Smith and his wife Madge of Dallas; sisters, Annette Keller and her husband John of Ft. Worth and Mary Koogler and her husband Brent of Lindale as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.
