Bio
Thirty-nine years old, died at his residence, 477 N. 5th St., at 11 a.m. Wednesday. A native of McComb, Miss., he is survived by his widow, the former Wade Wells, presently employed in Jackson, Miss.; two sons, James R. Jr., 9, and Clayton, 5; one daughter, Donna; his mother, Mrs. Lelia Martin, Baton Rouge; a sister, Mrs. A. H. Martin Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.; three brothers, Pink[n]ey, Las Vegas, N.M., C. W. of Baton Rouge, and Jessie A. of Opelousas. Funeral services, Mars Hill Baptist Church, Summit, Miss., Friday, 10 a.m.; interment Hollywood Cemetery, McComb. Body to leave Welch Funeral Home Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for Catchings Funeral Home, McComb. Published in The Morning Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA), Thursday, August 21, 1952
