Robert (Bob) Owen Brannon, Sr. June 26, 1914 - June 1, 2002 Bob was born in Crawfordsville, IN, to Ethel and Walter Brannon. In his late teens he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Colorado. After his service in the Navy he married and raised his family in the Magnolia area of Seattle. He moved to Arlington, WA to the "dream house" he built in the 1980s. He joined the Seattle Fire Department during WWII and retired as a Lieutenant after many years of service. During this time he also learned and mastered the craft of custom cabinet making. Not only did he bring beauty to the interior of many homes, he also created and built a playground for his children at their home which won first-place in a Seattle city-wide contest. Following his retirement from the S.F.D., he and his wife, Dixie, decided to take dancing lessons. At the conclusion of those lessons a new career began. They were asked to teach ballroom and other types of dancing as instructors for both the Seattle and Shoreline Community Colleges for several years. They also taught dancing on the cruise ships and held private classes. While a hole-in-one eluded Bob when he played golf, fish could not avoid his hook. He loved both pastimes and participated in both until recent health problems prevailed. He was Past Grand Master of the Masonic Doric Lodge #92. He also belonged to the Ballard and Mount Vernon Elk Lodges. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred, Mary and Martha; and brother Byron. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Dixie; sister, Ruth and her husband Sam Bier of Austin, TX; daughters, Barbara, Patricia, Colleen and Roberta; son, Robert Owen Jr. and their spouses; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Also missing him are numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many, many friends. Special among those friends are Joe and Doris Farnham of Woodland, CA (their friendship has lasted 71 years) and also Sonny and his wife. Viewing will be Tuesday, June 4, 2002 and Wednesday, June 5, 2002 from 10-5:30pm. Funeral service at noon Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Wiggen & Sons Funeral Home, 2003 NW 57th St, Seattle.&pe&Private interment at Marysville, WA.
