Billy James Hardy, age 79, of Slocum, Texas died April 9, 2012 at Palestine Regional Medical Center. Burial in Providence Cemetery was under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine. He was born October 8, 1932 in Anderson County to the late, Henry Herrin Hardy and Elzie Elmina (Cannon) Hardy. He was a self employed tractor mechanic and a Baptist by faith. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wanda Hardy, of Slocum; sons, Lynn Thornton of Campti, LA. and Kevin Hardy of Silsbee, Texas; sisters, Cherrie Jones of Palestine, and Thedra Dean of Slocum; six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine. Mr. Hardy died Monday in Palestine Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 8, 1932 in Anderson County to Henry H. Hardy and Elmina Cannon Hardy. He was a self employed tractor mechanic and a Baptist by faith. He loved his family deeply. Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wanda Hardy of Slocum; sons, Lynn Thornton of Campti, La. and Kevin Hardy of Silsbee; sisters, Cherrie Jones of Palestine and Thedra Dean of Slocum; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Curtis Ferguson, Vannoy Tucker, Malon Reed, Randy Dean, Leonard Ingrim, W.J. Ingrim and Walter Saucier. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Dean, Brian Thornton and Brandon Thornton. Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
