Bio

Leon Jurgens, 85 years, of Fremont, NE died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Arbor Manor in Fremont. He was born May 14, 1926 at Cedar Bluffs, NE to Andrew and Theresa(Sukstorf)Jurgens. He grew up at Cedar Bluffs and graduated from Cedar Bluffs High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant at Seattle, WA during the Korean War. After his discharge, he moved to Fremont. Leon married Marlene Hopper on December 21, 1950 at Seattle, Washington. Leon was employed at Darling International near Wahoo, NE until retiring Oct. 29, 2004. He had been residing at Arbor Manor for the last 5 years. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; 2 daughters, Diane Jurgens of Fremont and Deborah Moyer of Lincoln, NE; brother, Milton D. Jurgens of Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Matthew O. Moyer and wife, Monica, Nicole D. Moyer and Nathan A. Moyer and wife, Lacey; and 2 great grandchildren, Matthew E. Moyer and Alexander H. Moyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, Curtis, Dale and Jerry Jurgens. A private graveside service for Leon will be held at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
