Arrangements by Ramaekers Patrick Funeral Chapel in Genoa. Larry W. Nansel, 64, of Monroe, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012, at his farm home Northwest of Monroe. The funeral service will be Thursday, April 5, 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa with Father Bill L'Heureux officiating. Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery, rural Monroe, on Thursday at 1:15 P.M. with military honors by the Monroe American Legion Swanson Post 322 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and on Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church. Larry Wayne Nansel was born January, 17, 1948 to Mike and Fern (Werner) Nansel in Genoa, Nebraska. He was baptized at Okay United Methodist Church, rural Monroe. He attended country school at Okay School and Monroe High School. Larry entered the U.S. Army on May 20, 1969. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on December 24, 1970. On February 17, 1973, Larry was united in marriage to Marlene Wojcik in Columbus. He was a 4-H and FFA member and continued to support 4-H all his life. He farmed all his life on the same half section of ground, first with his father and then with his son until Larry's death. He worked for many years at the Albion Livestock Market. Larry loved working and hanging out with his sale barn crew. He also had a love for animals, lambs and cattle especially. He enjoyed having family and friends around. He had great pride in being a father and grandfather. Larry is survived by: Wife: Marlene Nansel of Monroe, NE Son: Lee Nansel of Monroe, NE Daughter: Laura (Arwin) Mikkelsen of Norfolk, NE Daughter: Kelly (Scott) Sanne of Norfolk, NE Daughter: Lisa (Chris) Finn of Monroe, NE Daughter: Kimberly Nansel of Farwell, NE 5 Grandchildren Sister: Sue (Roger) Graus of Independence, MO Father-in-law and mother-in-law: Clarence and Evelyn Wojcik of Lindsay, NE Sister-in-law: Kathy (Ken) Dunker of Columbus, NE Sister-in-law: Norma (Mike) Krzycki of Columbus, NE Brother-in-law: Dean (Rhonda) Wojcik of Lindsay, NE Nieces and nephews Larry was preceded in death by: Parents: Mike and Fern Nansel Sister: Joyce Pratt
