Bessie Jeffres is the plaintiff and Robert Johnson the defendant. Mrs. Jeffres was riding in a car driven by her husband, Lynn Jeffres. According to the suit, the Jeffres auto was traveling 40 miles per hour toward South Sioux. A car driven by Johnson was traveling in the same direction. The suit charges Johnson started to pass the Jeffres vehicle but an approaching auto from the east prevented the passing and Johnson attempted to pull back in behind the Jeffres car when he struck the left rear portion of the auto. THE SUIT says Johnson was traveling at a high rate of speed and in a careless and reckless manner. Mrs. Jeffres was knocked unconscious, suffered a brain concussion, wrenched shoulders and back, sprained ankle and permanent and partial disability, according to the suit, and asks $20,000. In a second cause of action, Mr. Jeffres charges the business operation of their cafe in Jackson was injured to the extent of $1,800 by reason of loss of services of Mrs. Jeffres. In addition, the suit asks $110 for damage to the Jeffres auto and $593.03 for doctor, hospital and drug bills to date.
