Willie L Melcher Dies Suddenly; Funeral Tuesday Willie L. Melcher, 48, LaGrange carpenter and owner of the Green Lantern Cafe, was found dead in his pasture in the O'Quinn community Sunday night, victim of an heart attack. Funeral services were for Tuesday at 2 0'clock at the Koenig Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. H. T. Flachmeier officiating and burial in the new city cemetery. Mr. Melcher had left home about 11 o'clock to haul some rubbish to the pasture and see after his cattle. When he did not return by dark, his wife became alarmed and, accompanied by her son, James Freudenberg, went to the pasture and found the car but no response to their calls. They then went to the home of Erwin Melcher who, with the aid of others, started a search an found him back of the barn, apparently dead several hours. Judge Geo. L. Haidusek held the inquest and found the death had come by natural causes. The deceased was born in the O'Quinn community and spent his life there and at La Grange. He was united in marriage on May 23, 1931. Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Audrey, Annie Lee and Ethel; step-son, James Freudenberg; brother, Erwin; four half-brothers, Robert, Richard and Frank Nollkamper of La Grange and Louis Nollkamper of San Antonio; and two half-sisters.
