Herald Coaster, September 2, 1962: Valentine Joseph Kuban, 52, of Needville, passed away in the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton on August 31 at 5:15 p.m. He had been a patient in the Wharton hospital for four days. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 2, at 3 p.m. from the St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Needville, with Rev. John P. Dany officiating. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Alma Kuban of Needville; one brother, Felix Kuban of Needville; two step-brothers, Pete Horelica of Rosenberg and Jerome Horelica of West Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were his nephews, Calvin Baca, Larry Vacek, Johnnie Bohacek, Calvin Hanzik, Bob Kuban, and Edward Kuban. Burial was in the Needville Cemetery. Garmany and Company of Needville directed the funeral.
