Bio

Although the stone clearly reads 1818, Massachusetts Vital Records to 1850 (database online NEHGS) for Spencer lists Jacobs birth to Jacob and Sarah as 10/8/1817. To further complicate matters the death record in Dudley states that Jacob who died in 1896 is the son of Jacob and Emeline. The dates of death 3/25/1896 and age at death 78y 5m 17d, however work out to 10/8/1817. Conclusion: the stone is probably wrong and the clerk who wrote his death record put his wife's name in instead of his mother's.
