Bio

Ada C. Lane, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully February 11, 2004. She was born to the late John and Cora Ballard in Indian Territory in Achille, Oklahoma July 15, 1909. The last of seven children, she married William Bennett Lane April 3, 1926 in Muleshoe, Texas. Ada worked at Montgomery Wards, Cobbs, Sears, Hemphill Wells and retired from J.C. Penny's after thirty-one years serving the public in retail. After retirement she remained an active volunteer for University Medical Center and Meals on Wheels. She was a beloved charter member of Agape' United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women. Her husband, William Bennett Lane, a daughter, Cherie Carolyn Patterson, a son Walter Donald Lane, two grandsons Brent Christopher Lane & Dart Keith Lane, and a great grandson Jacob Bryce Lane preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Dwain Lane and wife, Kay and James Lane and wife, Charlene all of Lubbock, eleven grandchildren, Steve Patterson, Mike Patterson, Denise Patterson Higgins, Shady Lane Malaeb, James Christopher Lane, Kristin Lane, Ty Lane, Britt Lane, Penny Lane Roberts, Troy Lane and Treva Lane Ham, twenty-three great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. A loving caring mother and grandmother, she loved other people, loved working with the public and never met a stranger. Our "Lord Jesus" has welcomed her home in his loving arms. Services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2004 at Agape' United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Shera Atkinson and the retired Rev. Dave Treat. Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
