Bio
R.J. Cecil, Sr., 85, of OKC, passed away after a long illness surrounded by his loving family on May 22, 2006. He was born Dec. 16, 1920 in OKC to Henry and Eather (Thedford) Cecil. R.J. was a 1940 graduate of Capitol Hill H.S. In 1941, after graduation, he went to work for Beech Aircraft, where he enjoyed playing baseball with his co-workers. He met the love of his life, Mary and they married in 1942. R.J. then proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945 as a bombsight mechanic. He and Mary moved back to OKC in Jan. 1946 from Wichita, KS. He spent the rest of his life working in the elevator trade as a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #63. R.J. was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. R.J. was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. He leaves wonderful memories with his wife, Mary of the home; son, Robert J. Cecil and wife Rita of OKC; daughter, Romar Langford and husband Bill of Blanchard, OK; grandchildren, Jalaine and husband Walter, Marta and husband John, Lori and husband Ryan, Billy and wife Natalie; great grandchildren, Taylor, Hayley, Kylie, Colby, Logan, Rylie R.J. and Kamdyn; and numerous friends. Services to celebrate his life will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel. Published in The Oklahoman from May 24 to May 25, 2006
