The Harvard Courier, Thu, Jun 15, 1972 ·Page 2 Edward Engelhardt was born near Saronville, Nebr., on September 25, 1886, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Engelhardt. His life ended suddenly at his home in Harvard on June 8, 1972, having attained the age of 85 years, 8 months and 13 days. On Nove. 12, 1908 he took Miss Sarah Kleis as his bride. He farmed in the Clay county area for several years and he was the owner operator of City Oil Co. of Harvard after moving to Harvard in 1924. Since 1945 he has been retired. At an early age Edward was baptized and became a member of the Reformed Church in Sutton. At the time of his death he was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church of Harvard. Mrs. Engelhardt died July 26, 1964. Surviving is his one daughter and only child, Mrs. Eleanor Thurber of Lincoln, one grandson, Carroll R. Ciochon and one great grandson, J. T. Ciochon both of Shawnee Mission, Kansas. He will be missed by his many friends and neighbors as well as his relatives. Funeral services were conducted June 12 at 2:30 in the Alberding Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Fred A. Roberts officiated. Mrs. Ruth Voorhees accompanied Glen Hamburger who sang "Saved by Grace: and "The Lord's Prayer." Casket bearers were Howard Rath, Ray Dudgeon, Waldorf Engel, William Hohnstein, Dallas Nelson and R.
