Charles raised Hereford cattle and enjoyed riding horses. He was a cowboy his entire life and rode rough horses and worked cattle until he got ill in March 2012. He was very proud of serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was very much an American; he loved America and all that she stood for. Charles was very active in the American Legion were he began as post commander for the Dix Unit, District Commander, Area D Vice, Area D Cmdr. and achieved Department of Nebraska Commander or State Commander 1974-1975. He encouraged Betty his wife to become active in the American Legion Auxiliary where she went on to become State president something they did and believed in together. He had two life memberships and a permanent membership to the American Legion. Charles was a true American where he appreciated the freedoms that we are all so fortunate to have. He served on the church board at Dix Bible Church for more than 10 Years. Survivors include his son Joseph and Laura Singleton of Banner County, grandsons Charles J. and Shavonne "Big Springs," Jake W. Singleton, Rosalie Beard Singleton, wife Betty Mae Singleton, son, Charles Mark Singleton and granddaughter, Casie Mae Singleton. Charles had one unrealized dream, he wanted to live long enough to vote against Obama one more time, the person he thought did more damage to his country than any nuclear bomb ever made.
