His heart which was so loving and giving yet so weak stopped beating on March 11, 2004. Dan was born in Granger, Texas, to William and Hermina Bartosh on July 14, 1917. After spending his early years in Granger, he left to study engineering at Texas A & M. Thereafter he married the love of his life, Vera Rozacky, on June 6, 1939, and moved to Taylor where he was employed at Taylor Iron and Machine Works. In 1941, Dan and Vera moved to Austin and he and his partners John Simicek and Joe Kincl opened Capitol Machine Works and Capitol Truck and Trailer. Dan ran the machine shop for 48 years and was highly respected by his customers as businessman, inventor, fabricator, welder, and the man who could repair anything. Dan and Vera were long time members of St. Austin Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years. After retiring, he and Vera enjoyed numerous vacation trips with their family and many relatives until Vera's health began failing. Above being an outstanding father, grandfather, family man, and friend, Dan should be most remembered and admired for the many years he totally and unselfishly dedicated to caring for his ailing wife. Every day he did anything and everything to comfort her until her demise on July 4, 2000. Dan was preceded in death by his mother and father, Hermina and William Bartosh; sister, Adelle Simicek; brother, Louis Bartosh; and sister, Edith Bartosh. He is survived by his brother, William Bartosh; sister, Evelyn Lanier; son, Dan Bartosh Jr. and wife, Linda; son, Pat Bartosh and wife, Jan; and son, Ken Bartosh and wife, Maryellen. Also his loving grandchildren, K.J. Bartosh, Christine Bartosh, Trey Bartosh, Becky Henson, and Rachel McCormick; and great- grandchildren, Blake and Cody Henson and Erica and Stone McCormick and many loved nieces and nephews. Dan's family and friends will miss him dearly. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2004, at St. Austin's Catholic Church with Father Patrick Johnson, C.S.P., Celebrant. Reception will follow immediately at the church. Rite of Committal will follow reception at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Built of Living Stones, St. Austin's Catholic Parish, 2026 Guadalupe St., Austin, TX 78705.
