Mrs. Vernon Weaver Funeral services for Mrs. Vernon Vick Weaver, 96, were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Tapp Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Weaver died Sunday, Oct. 10, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 31, 1897, in Cumby, the daughter of Pollard and Elizabeth Apperson Wise. She married Myrit Elliott Vick on Nov. 17, 1912. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1951. She married James Frank Weaver on Sept. 14, 1958. He died in November 1958. Mrs. Weaver had been an active member of First Presbyterian Church since moving to Sulphur Springs in 1951, and served as Sunday School superintendent, secretary and teacher. She was historian, secretary and president for the Women of the Echoettes Church. She served on numerous church committees. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and held several posts in the organization. Survivors include one daughter, Vicki Hines Stewart of Sulphur Springs; one son, Mayo E. Vick of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, Vick R. Hines of Austin, Cliff J. Hines of Dallas and Nancy Hines MacKenzie of Sacramento, Calif.; and one great-grandson, Cameron MacKenzie of Sacramento.
