La Ruth Jane Gruben Crouch, 91 La Ruth Jane (Gruben) Crouch, 91, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Merkel Nursing Home. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Chapel in Rotan. Born July 27, 1919 in Royston, TX, Ruth was a daughter of the late Epkie E. and Minnie Etta (Parker) Gruben. Ruth married Cyril Aubry "C.A."Crouch, in Royston on June 1, 1935. She lived in various towns throughout Texas and resided in Hamlin from 1961-1980 where she worked as a Nurses Aide at the Holiday Lodge. Ruth later moved to Abilene and worked for West Texas Medical. She lived the last two years at Merkel Nursing Center. Ruth liked to sew, garden, make porcelain dolls, fish, cook and was very active in her grandchildren's lives. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Abilene. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, one sister and one son-in-law, (Nate Weatherman). Ruth is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary LaRuth Weatherman of Abilene, Barbara and Ramone Rodriguez of Merkel, Sandra and Larry McCright of Abilene and Janice Diane and Dan Henry of Corpus Christi; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Claudia Ray and Billie Jo Gruben of Hamlin and William B. and Edrie Gruben of Brownfield; eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
