********************************* John Dillard Brown was born in Albany, Clinton County, Kentucky to Martha Catherine (Martin) and General Marion "Gent" Brown. He was an engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad and was in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He married Grace Odessa (Murrah) on 17 Mar 1924 in McKinney, Collin County, Texas. They were the parents of Norma Jeanne (Brown) Pope, James Dillard Brown and Everett Merle Brown. John Dillard Brown died in the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe (Railroad) Hospital in Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas. His body was returned to Chanute for burial. ************************************
