UPLAND--Arlene F. Clester, 66, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. She was born in Anderson, the daughter of the late Bruce and Bethel (Miner) Diffenderfer. She graduated from Petroleum High School in 1963 and furthered her education at Manchester College, earning a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education in 1965. She went on to earn her Masters in Education from IPFW. Arlene married John Clester on December 10, 1966 in Muncie. he survives. Mrs. Clester taught Kindergarten through fifth grades in Liberty Center, Bluffton, and Eastbrook Schools for a total of 38 years. She attended the Upland United Methodist Church and was a member of the Matthews Lion's Club and the Retired Teachers Association. She went on over 35 missions trips with the Lion's to distribute eye glasses to underprivileged countries. She was a full time volunteer, serving as Secretary, at the Lion's International Eye Glass Recycling Center in Upland. She especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Harper. Survivors include her husband, John; a daughter, Kimberly (Blake) Wiselogle, Indianapolis; one granddaughter, Harper Wiselogle, Indianapolis; and one brother, Robert (Irene) Diffenderfer, Ft. Wayne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Diffenderfer. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Satuday, March 24, 2012 at Upland United Methodist Church, 123 E. Washington St., Upland, IN. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012 at Jones-Smith Funeral Home, 259 N. Main St., Upland, IN, with Rev. Rob Neel officiating. Cremation will follow.
