Elva Jo Chisum, 82, of Lubbock departed this life Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, in Lubbock. She was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Mt. Vernon, Texas, to the late Bunk and Lallah Davis Gill. She graduated from Hamlin High School and Draughon's Business College in Abilene. She moved to Lubbock from Abilene in 1945. She married Oliver W. Chisum on July 2, 1949, in Lubbock. Mrs. Chisum was a homemaker and bookkeeper for O.W. Chisum Co. Mechanical Contractors. She was a member of Hillcrest Country Club and Elgin Ave. Baptist Church. She was an avid golfer and loved card games. She was preceded in death by a son, Phil Chisum in 1988. Those left to mourn her passing include her husband, Oliver of Lubbock; a brother, Robbie Gill of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at White Memorial Chapel in Lubbock with Rev. John Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in City of Lubbock Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.
