Bio

Oliver Morton Whalen, 77, funeral was held Sunday with burial in the Stanton cemetery. He died Oct. 19 at his home in Stanton. He was born April 17, 1862 at Tipton, Indiana to Mr. and Mrs. William D. Whalen. He came to Stanton in 1865 with his parents making the trip in a covered wagon. "It is said that Mr. Whalen had the distinction of a larger continuous life in the county since any other resident since only about one month of his life was spent outside the county since coming here with his parents." He was survived by his wife Sarah, 3 sons: Walter at Lexington, Dean and Ray both at Stanton, 4 daughters: Mrs. Leonard Wood, Mrs Leonard Norling, Mrs. Jack Best all at Stanton; Mrs. Allan Moran at Omaha; 2 sisters: Mrs. Dora Ganda at Omaha, Mrs. Jennie Reilly at Pierce, 1 brother Lew at Red Bluff, California; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.
