RODNEY WALKER Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend returned to the arms of his Heavenly Father. Rodney Warren Walker, born Feb. 23, 1918 in Pleasant Grove to Warren Samuel and Flora Allred Walker, died of causes incident to age surrounded by his family. He married his eternal companion, June Bunnell Walker 61 years ago. Rod was active in church and civic capacities and was admired by all for his quiet gentle leadership. He was a worker in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for 18 years and served in many other church capacities. Rod worked for the Rio Grande Railroad, Salt Lake Hardware and then moved to Washington State to work for the Boeing Company. He later ran for and was elected Davis County Clerk-Auditor. He served in this position until his retirement in 1983. Rod took great delight in being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was their greatest fan at their sporting and performing events. Camping, traveling, gardening and his sweet wife brought him great happiness. Survived by his wife, June Elda Bunnell, son Robert R.; daughters: Patricia Ann (Dean) Van Uitert; Linda Sue (Earl) Huff, Karen (Jesse) Nevin, and Merri Jo(Mike) Oman, 32 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, sister and two grandsons. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 18, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Bountiful 27th Ward Chapel, 1145 North 200 East. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Bountiful and at the church on Monday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Funeral services under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove. (Printed in the Deseret News August 16, 1997)
