Bio
IRENE HELEN KLARE MICHALEK 72, departed her loved ones on Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004. Both daughters were by her side. She was born August 27, 1931 in San Antonio then grew up in Houston and Weimar, graduating from Reagan High School. Irene married Ed D. Michalek in 1951 and was his legal secretary for many years in his law practice. Her joy in her 4 grandchildren, Max, JoJo, Marlene and Savannah was legendary, after that came her love of cards. She will be remembered for her courage and her loving and generous heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed D. Michalek, her Momma and Poppa, Lillie Koehn and August Guhn, and her nephew Alan Ray Harding.She is survived and will be missed by her children, Debra Jo Shell and husband David, Brenda Ladd and husband Clif, David and Beth Michalek, Steven and Judie Michalek and her friend, Cynthia Nicholas and many friends and relatives. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2004 from 6 to 8 pm, at Forest Park Westheimer. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 3:30 pm at the funeral chapel with Deacon Jay Vocelka officiating. Visitation on Thursday begins at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, Irene requested donations be made to Houston Hospice,Odyssey Hospice (Austin) or St. Catherine's of Sienna Catholic Church. Published by Houston Chronicle on Mar. 3, 2004.
