Bio
Maxine Hendrickson (Miller), age 88 of Viroqua, passed away peacefully at Vernon Manor in Viroqua on Sunday, February 3, 2008. She was born on December 10, 1919, to Lester and Esther (McDaniel) Miller in Clinton Township, Vernon County. She attended La Farge High School, graduating in 1937. After high school, she went on to graduate from Normal School in Viroqua and taught for several years until she married Helmer Hendrickson on October 7, 1944, at the parsonage in Cashton. Helmer and Maxine farmed on Sugar Grove Ridge in Clinton Township until Helmer's death in 1975. Maxine then moved to Viroqua where she worked at Shultz Bros. store for many years until she retired. Maxine was always full of energy and ready to go on an outing with friends or family at anytime. She liked to dance and even enjoyed a sled ride a the age of 80 at Christmastime. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Arvo "Bud" Miller; two sisters, Margaret Vold and Delores Fleming. She is survived by nieces and nephews and other relatives and special friend, Elaine Nelson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2008, at 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy. 14 in Westby. Pastor Karen Bankes will officiate with burial at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Dell Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5 until the time of service at 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family. Lacrosse Tribune Apr 10,2008
