Bio
James Benton Turner was born in Commerce, Texas to Charles & Vivian Turner. After graduating from East Texas State Demonstration School in 1940, he served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. After an honorable discharge from the military, he pursued a successful career with the Shell Oil Company where his many capabilities and talents were rewarded with increasing promotions and responsibilities. As a competent problem solver, he earned several patents during his employment with the Shell Oil Company. James was preceded in death by his parents: Charles & Vivian Turner; brother, Howard Turner; and his late wife, Joy Tucker Turner. He was survived by his adopted daughter, Ellen Ann and husband Wayne Johnston; two stepsons: Timothy Tucker and wife Darlene, John Tucker and wife Sandy; grandson, James Kelly Bell and wife Tammie; numerous step-grandchildren: Amy and Jamie Cherry, Michael Tucker, Stephen Tucker, Tiffany and Matthew Painter, Josh Tucker, Courtney and Aaron Burton, Johnny and Brittany McDonald, Megan and Adam Crist and Mikey Tucker; great grandchildren: Justin Bell, Aubrey, Maisie and Tucker Cherry, Autumn, Tenley and Callie Burton, Erin Tucker, Tyler McDonald, William Painter and Joy Crist; as well as nephew, Charles Turner. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Ramsey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014 in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home with Dr. David Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F.
