Landis William Warden (aka "Humdinger", "L", Dad, Sonny, Mudd and Pawpaw) 76, traveled on to see St Peter at the Golden Gates March 9, 2012 after a 7 year "Crusade" on dialysis. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marie and would have celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary on April 11, 2012. He is also survived by his children: Cheryl Crowe (Kenny Bechtold), Landis William Warden, Jr. (Bill – wife Susan) and Todd (wife Rosemary); 6 grandchildren: Tabitha Harris, Samantha Larson, Stewart Warden, Taylor Warden, (all of McKinney) and Logan and Payton Locke (Austin); 5 great grandchildren- Jerid, Cheyenne, Tysen, Kira, and Tatum and numerous nephews and nieces. Landis had a special role in the life of his step-daughter, Brittny Locke of Austin. Born on April 29, 1935 to Tom and Beatrice Warden, he was raised in McKinney, along with his surviving brothers Tommy and Tim (wife Sue) and cousin Gail Hitchcock. His Texas roots were deep. After graduating from Boyd High School, Landis served his country in the Navy on the USS Point Cruz. He worked in the consumer finance industry for numerous years and was an entrepreneur. He retired in the late '90s. Landis loved to hunt, fish, and drive/putt that little round ball on any golf course at any time. He loved to tell stories of his adventures (true & "tall tales") to the next generation and to his grand kids- He loved his family & friends dearly. Officiating at his service will be dear friends, George Minchew and Laura J. Kilcrease. Honorary Pallbearers are: Tom B. Warden, Jr., Tim Warden, Jim Sarver, David Tawater, Greg Tawater, James Brown, and Jim Henry Pennington. Pallbearers: Phil Haning, Paul Head, Logan Locke, Toby Locke, Blake Price, Brent Price, Chris Sarver, Doug Tawater, Stewart Warden and "dear and special friend" Harold Williamson.
