Info provided by Janie Smith FAG#48174980: Kathryn Ann Bluntzer Porcher, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away October 25, 2005 at her residence in Kerrville surrounded by loved ones. Born July 28, 1920, to Joseph Lee and Viola Olsen Bluntzer, she was raised in Corpus Christi and later attended Texas A&I College in Kingsville, where she received a BA degree in elementary education. On October 27, 1942, she married her college sweetheart, Robert Porcher, who is also from Corpus Christi. In 1955, Kathryn and Robert relocated to Houston, where they raised their two daughters and remained there until 1983 when they retired to Kerrville. In 2000, Kathryn was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Throughout the decline of her health, Kathryn maintained her grace, sharp wit and beautiful sense of humor. Kathryn is survived by her husband Robert; two daughters, Diane Porcher Matlock and Janeene Porcher Chilcoat; two sons-in-law, David Matlock and Steve Chilcoat; four grandchildren, Deborah Matlock, Dan Matlock and wife Sara, Chelsea Chilcoat and Laura Chilcoat; a sister Margaret Turner; and nephews, Brian and Tom Turner. Kathryn's philosophy was that no matter how good someone was, they had a little bit of bad and no matter how bad someone was, they had a little bit of good. Kathryn looked for the good in everyone. The family would like to thank Lari Aycock and her company, Heart Choices Care Management, for connecting us with the capable, loving support team who saw Kathryn and her family through these challenging times. Rosary will be Thursday, October 27, at 7 p.m. at Grimes Chapel in Kerrville. Funeral services will be Friday, October 28, at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville, with internment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Kerr County Alzheimer's Association or the Porcher Brother's Grant at Schreiner University.
