The Leonard Graphic, Leonard, Texas, Friday, September 26, 1952, Page 1 Funeral Service for Mrs. Sarah Havens Held Sunday Mrs. Sarah M. Havens, age 88, passed to her Heavenly reward on September 20th at 3:15 a. m., after an extended illness of two and one half years. She was the widow of the late John Wesley Havens, who preceded her in death in June, 1929. She was born in Aberdeen, Miss. and moved with her family, Mr. and Mrs. John F. West, to Texas when at the age of 15. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church, and a charter member of the first Baptist Church of Leonard. Her life has been lived for the glorification of Christ and al who knew her loved and respected her. She is survived by four sons and four daughters, 26 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Children are: Arie Havens, Leonard, Lula Cunningham, Dallas, Grady Havens, Paducah, Mrs. J. L. Cooper, Randolph, Thurston Havens, Hamlin, Frank Havens, Fort Worth, Mrs. Carl Mathis, Paris, Mrs. J. B. Heed, Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Virgie Kirby, Chidster, Ark. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, Leonard at 3:00 p. m. Sunday. Rev. Chester Bunch was in charge of the service. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Messrs. Bill Johns, Tom Owens, Hugh Freeman, Bill Treadway, Oscar Booher, Jessie Mahan. Honorary pallbearers were great grandsons. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Daughter of John F. and Elizabeth (McDow) West. Sallie West married John Wesley Havens November 18, 1883, in Hunt County, Texas.
