Leonard Graphic 9 Dec 1949 Richard P. (Dick) Caskey, 52, a lifetime resident of Leonard, died at a Bonham hospital Friday afternoon, December 9th, following a brief illness. The large floral offering, and overflowing church house, was a fitting tribute to the memory of one of Leonard's best-loved citizens. Funeral services were held in Leonard Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Baptist Church of which he was a member. Ministers who conducted the services were Rev. William Greenshaw of Rockwall, Rev. Eugene Skelton of Leonard and Rev. Durham. Burial was in the Leonard cemetery with arrangements in charge of Wilson Funeral Home. Deceased was a native of Leonard. He was born on December 20, 1897, and spent his entire lifetime here with the exception of a few months this summer when he made his home in Lone Oak. An employee of the Community Public Service Company for 25 years, Mr. Caskey was one of the best known men in this section. He was married to Miss Mary Arie on May 25, 1923 and to this union one daughter was born. He also reared an adopted nephew, Eddie Earl Anderson, who is a student at ETSTC in Commerce. He was a retired member of the Leonard Volunteer Fire Department. Active pallbearers were Buck Chapman, Howard Perry, Guy Christian, Bill Treadway, Otto Holland and Claude Tarpley. Members and ex-members of the Leonard Fire Department were named as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Eddie Mathews of McKinney; one son, Eddie Earl Anderson of Commerce; two grandchildren, Ronnie and Jimmie Mathews; one brother, Wayne Caskey of Shreveport, La.; and two sisters, Mrs. W. P. Cobb of Leonard and Mrs. N. A. White of Greenville.
