Obituary reads 'R. A. Peters of Yoakum Dies Fri. - R. A. (Rudy) Peters, 61, of Yoakum, recently retired Humble Oil Company consignee died suddenly at Rockport at about 2:00 a.m. while on a one-day fishing trip. Becoming ill at 1:00 a.m. he was taken to Bayview Hospital in Rockport. He died an hour later, physicians listing his sudden illness and death due to a heart attack. Born in the Yoakum vicinity, December 12, 1899, Mr. Peters had been Humble's consignee in Yoakum for the past 27 years retiring in 1961. He was a member of the Rotary Club and other organizations. Before becoming affiliated with the petroleum industry, he was an official fo a cotton oil mill in Yoakum. Survivors include his wife Mrs. Viola Peters of Yoakum; one son R. A. Peters Jr. of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. James D. Nelson of Houston; his mother, Mrs. John Peters of Hochheim; two sisters, Miss Milady Peters of Hochheim, and Mrs John Marek of Houston; a brother, Otto Peters of Dallas and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Yoakum Monday morning July 10 at 9:45 a.m. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Yoakum, celebrant of the solemn Requiem Mass was Rev. G. Karatko fo Sweet Home, assisted by Deacon Rev. Charles Grahmann of San Antonio and sub-deacon Rev. Charles Carolan of Yoakum. Rosary was recited Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7:30 p.m. at Buffinton Chapel. Past Grand Knight fo the Yoakum Knights of Columbus Council, Mr. Peters was also prominent in the KJT Society.
