Minnie Miranda Mason was the daughter of Thomas E. Mason and Martha Frances Smith. Minnie married Wiley Lee Roy Karl on 14 Apr 1912 at Oglesby, Coryell County, TX. They had two children: Curtis Lee Karl, b. 21 Apr 1913; Opal Clara Karl, b. 20 Aug 1917. Both were born in Coryell County, TX. Lee Roy and his brother, Frank, were killed in a tragic accident in 1918, both leaving widows with young children. Minnie and her children moved in with her parents for a time after Lee's death. Minnie soon married Joseph D. Scheumack on 19 Apr 1920 in Bastrop County, TX. Curtis and Opal grew up in the Scheumack home. Minnie and Joseph soon began their family and had the following children: Nathaniel M. Scheumack, b. 19 Aug 1921; Daniel J., b. 1922; Paul S., b. 1924. Jesse E., b. 1926; and Nina Ruth, b. 1929, some of which are near their parents in Oakwood Cemetery. Joseph D. Scheumack was a minister in the Assembly of God Church. He is listed in the minutes of the General Council of the Assemblies of God held at Bethel Chapel, St. Louis, Mo., Oct, 1 - 7th, 1916. As the wife of a preacher, Minnie, and children had the opportunity to live in several locations around Texas. They spent some years in Austin when Joseph pastored a church there. They also lived in California and Oklahoma. Minnie was well traveled for a lady of her time. My Dad and I last visited with Aunt Minnie at her home in the 1980's when she was about 90. Her memory of details through the years was amazing. What a remarkable lady!
