Betty Ruth Wisian of Austin passed away Friday, August 22, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 22, 1932 in Houston, Texas to James E. and Minnie Carolyn Parks, both preceding her in death. Betty grew up in Houston with her five brothers and one sister, and graduated from Reagan High School. She married her husband, Robert Wisian on December 27, 1958 at St. John's Catholic Church in Houston and soon moved to Austin where they lived in matrimonial harmony for almost 56 years. They had one son, "Little Robert" Wisian Jr. For 31 years, Betty worked in the Accounting department for Southwestern Bell which was bought out by AT&T during her tenure. She retired in 1982 to raise her son. Betty is survived by her husband, Robert Wisian of Austin; her son, Robert Wisian Jr. and wife Jennifer, of Austin; her granddaughter, Melissa Wisian, of Austin; her brother Milton Parks, and wife Edna of Cypress, Texas; her brother Ted Parks, and wife Linda, of Granbury, Texas; sister Connie Hodge, and husband Ed, of Elmore, Alabama; extended family, and many lifelong friends. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, James Jr., Kenneth, and Eugene. Throughout her life, Betty found enjoyment and love through "her Roberts", her kitties, and her games. Betty worked tirelessly to keep a clean home, a happy family, and you could always count on her to find the best deal shopping. She loved word-search puzzles, the dominoes game "Chickenfoot", and she was there cheering for her son's football, basketball, and baseball games, as well as her granddaughter's volleyball and tennis matches. Over the years, Betty shared her love to several pets, but she leaves behind her beloved cat, Misty; to the care of her husband Robert. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 26, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Mausoleum in Pflugerville. A visitation will be held the hour before the service at the same location. A graveside ceremony will follow. Flowers can be sent to Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin, Texas 78752; or memorials may be sent to the Austin Retired Police Officers Association, 143 Morris Lane, Cedar Creek, Texas 78612.
