☆～ VETERAN, VIETNAM WAR (1954-1975) ～☆ Donald E. Wrehe, 62, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at VA Medical Center, Grand Island after a long battle with cancer. Donald was born Feb. 25, 1949, in Loup City to Alfred and Thelma (Gregg) Wrehe. Donald grew up in Ashton and received his education in the Ashton and Loup City area graduating with the class of 1967. He entered the United States Navy, Dec. 5, 1968 and served during the Vietnam War and was honorable discharged Sept. 11, 1970. Donald was united in marriage to Judy Reimers, April 9, 1983, in Grand Island. The couple made their home in various communities including, Loup City, Chambers, Central City, Juniata and Grand Island, where he was employed by Foxley Feed, Christiansen Cattle Company, Juniata Feeds Yards and retiring from J.B. Swift Company in Grand Island, May 2011. Donald was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Grand Island. He enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren, watching the history channel and John Wayne movies; his favorite saying was "It'll be alright." Donald was preceded in death by: parents, Alfred and Thelma Wrehe, brothers, Harold and Loren Wrehe, brothers-in-law, Frank Henke and John Walford. Survivors are: wife, Judy (Reimers) Wrehe of Grand Island; daughters and son-in-law, Ashley Wrehe and fiance, Donnie Price, Amanda and Christopher Elson, all of Grand Island; brother, Ronald Wrehe of Boelus; sisters, Elaine Walford and Marlene Henke, both of Grand Island; grandchildren, Kortney Olinger Wrehe, Marcus Elson and Adrian Wrehe; a sister-in-law, Joan Hanson of Kenesaw and brother-in-law, LaVern Thomsen of Grand Island.
