Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday for J. T. Keith, 50, who died at 3 a.m. Saturday from injuries received in an automobile accident on May 2. Keith's death occurred in a local hospital, where he had been confined since the accident. He sustained a spinal injury which necessitated his being placed in an iron lung. The injury caused a paralysis of virtually his entire body. The well-known Ida resident was driving to his home when his car struck the rear of a large tractor-trailer outfit near Gilliam. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Benton Masonic lodge. He also held membership in the Benton post of the American Legion and was a member of the 40 and 8 Club. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Clair Tuggle Keith; two sons, Malcolm Bryant Keith of Raceland and Richard Kenneth Keith, with the U.S. Air Force at Keesler Field, Miss.; three daughters, Miss Margaret Lorraine Keith, Oil City, Miss Martha Clair Keith, a student at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, and Miss Barbara Ann Keith, Ida; and his step-mother, Mrs. Alta Keith, Shreveport. He is also survived by four brothers, W. L. Keith of Benton, C. B. Keith of Haughton, H. C. Keith of Fillmore and C. E. Keith of Brice; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Burton of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Marie Dupuy of Ventura, Calif., and Mrs. Madeline McCloskie of San Antonio, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews. The rites will be conducted at the Ida Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Old Red River Cemetery at Linton, near Benton, at 4:30 p.m. with Legionnaires conducting military rites at the grave. The body will remain at the family residence in Ida until the hour of services. Pallbearers will be Roy Bain, Billie Wynn, Jack Lumas, Ezell Caraway, Billie Zane May, Douglas Manor, Hugh Sneed and Bruce Eubanks.
