In August 1947, Billye married Lee C. McCullough, her high school sweetheart, when he returned from service in the US Navy. She immediately began working and worked continuously until 1986. Billye was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Las Cruces, Amigos Sunday School class, United Methodist Women, La Ristra Emmaus Community, Gideon's Auxiliary, and was past president of Las Cruces Host Lions Club. She was a past member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority in both Hobbs and Carlsbad, New Mexico. Among her many hobbies were oil painting, calligraphy and needle craft.
