Daily Courier - Gazette, McKinney,Texas, Feb 11, 1915: Blue Ridge, Texas, Feb 11 --John Bullock, aged about 58 years, died in this city at 6 o'clock Wednesday evening, a short time after he and his brother were working in their blacksmith shop and when the brother stepped out in town, Bullock picked up a cheap 22-calibre target rifle , placed the barrell near his right temple and with the use of a nail discharged the cartridge which caused his death... Mr. Bullock has lived in Blue Ridge for over twenty five years and has been engaged in general blacksmithing here with his brother. He was a member of the W. 0. W. Lodge and was well and favorably known throughout this section. ILL health and despondency is attributed as the cause of this action......... Funeral services and burial will take place here tomorrow.
