Josiah's mother married a Thomas Hickman 17 August 1857 in Warren County, Iowa. No further information (census or death) can be found on this man. In 1860, Azuba and Josiah were listed as Whiteds (her maiden name) in Warren County, Iowa with her parents and siblings . She married a second time in 1861 to Reuben G. Lee (he died the next year of disease during the Civil War.) In 1864 Azuba married a third time to William Beltz. Josiah is listed as a Beltz on the 1870 census. After this he was always listed (1880, 1900, 1910 &1920) he was listed as Josiah (sometimes Joseph) G. Hickman or Hickmon.
