Laura Jean Oates, of Ft. Worth, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012. She was born March 13, 1936 in Dallas. She was a member of Life Tabernacle in Watauga, Texas. She is preceded in death by her mother, Villar Gertrude West, father, Joseph J. East, and brother Leo Franklin East. Laura was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and is survived by her husband Cecil Comer Oates; children Dennis Hammond, Dawn Whitman, Steve Hammond, Cyndi Martinez, and Eric Hammond; grandchildren Nick Crapanzano, Mike Crapanzano, Nathan Martinez, Michelle Sipla, Rebekah Johnson, Isaac Martinez, Aaron Martinez, Ashley Hammond, Hannah Hammond, and Sarah Hammond; and great grandchildren Cade, Corban, and Ariel. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday, February 13, 2012 at Brown's Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Pratt Cemetery in Clearwater, Louisiana. The family will receive friends 2-4 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
