Bio

The Bellville Times, Thursday, August 8, 1957: George Reuther, aged 92 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Scheel, in Wharton on August 1 at 2:00 o'clock in the morning. Mr. Reuther was born in Germany August 20, 1864, and came to America when a boy. He was married to Mary Polasek, who preceded him in death thirty-five years ago in January. This union was blessed with six children, five of whom are living, son, Louis, having died January 14, 1953. He is survived by two sons, George, Jr. of Wallis, and Henry of Eagle Lake; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Zurek of Wallis, Mrs. Annie Orsak, and Mrs. Julie Scheel of Wallis; and twenty grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren. His grandsons served as pallbearers. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery with the Rev. A.W. Nesvadba officiating.
