Funeral services for Juanita Houchin, 89, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Allen officiating. Interment will follow in McAlister Cemetery in Overbrook. Mrs. Houchin was born April 6, 1922, in Konawa, Okla., to Jess and Lillian Morrow Wilson. She went to be with her Lord on February 5, 2012, in a local nursing facility. She and the late Ardmore Police Chief Buck Houchin were married on Feb. 5, 1943, in San Angelo, Texas. She lived in Ardmore all of her adult life where early in their marriage she worked as a waitress at the Ardmore Bus Station. Then she accepted her role as the best mother to her six children. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Robert Houchin and his wife, Judy of Ardmore, Don Houchin and his wife, Anna of Tucson, Ariz., Glenn Houchin, Betty Bussell of Ardmore, Tony Houchin and Wesley Houchin and his wife, Anita all of Ardmore. She is also survived by a brother, Jay L. Wilson and his wife, Muriel of Duncan, Okla.; two sisters, Jean Castleberry, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Wanda Dunn and her husband, Richard of Ardmore; a sister-in-law, Lavern Wilson of Ardmore; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck; and a brother, Harold Wilson. Serving as pallbearers will be Robbie Houchin, Matt McCaw, Phillip Bart, Shannon Houchin, John Bradley Houchin and Michael Houchin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Houchin, Randy Cramer and Michael Morris. The family will be at the funeral home to greet friends from 7-8 this evening. Memorials can be left to Cross Timbers Hospice. The family would like to thank Cross Timbers Hospice and the staff of Elmbrook Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to their mother.
